Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the products and websites operated by SciCoagent ("we", "us"). Sections 1–13 apply to every product. Section 14 adds terms specific to each product. Currently those products are Benjamin (benjamin.scicoagent.com) and Eratosthenes / SciCo-Search (search.scicoagent.com). By signing in to or using any of our products, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. Your account

• You sign in with Google. One SciCoagent account works across all our products.
• You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live if that is higher.
• You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone has used it without your permission.

2. Your content

• You keep ownership of everything you submit (documents, queries and other input) and of the output generated for you.
• You grant us a limited licence to process your content only to provide the products to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.
• You confirm that you have the right to submit your content and to have it processed by our AI provider, Google (Gemini API).

3. Plans and separate subscriptions

• Each product has its own plans, prices and usage limits, shown on that product's pricing page.
• Subscriptions are per product. A paid plan on one product does not include, upgrade or charge for any other product, unless a bundle is clearly offered at checkout. You can hold, change or cancel a subscription to each product independently.
• Free plans may have usage limits, and we may change them with reasonable notice.
• Usage allowances are monthly unless a product says otherwise. They reset on the 1st of each calendar month (UTC), and unused allowance does not roll over.

4. Payment, renewal and cancellation

• Paid plans are subscriptions billed monthly or annually at the price shown at checkout, including any applicable taxes.
• Payments are processed by our payment partners: Dodo Payments internationally and Razorpay in India. We do not see or store your full card details. The partner's terms also apply to the payment.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew after that.
• If we change the price of a paid plan, we will notify you before it applies, and the change will take effect at your next renewal.

5. Refunds

Refunds apply to each product's subscription separately:

• First purchase: you get a full refund if you ask within 7 days of your first payment for that product, subject to any usage condition for that product in Section 14.
• Annual renewal: you get a full refund if you ask within 7 days of the renewal charge and have not used that product since the renewal.
• Charged in error (for example, a duplicate charge): always refunded.
• Otherwise, payments are non-refundable and partial periods are not refunded, except where the law requires it.

To request a refund, write to contact@scicoagent.com from your account email and name the product. Refunds go back to the original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• submit content you do not own or are not authorised to submit, or content that is unlawful or infringes others' rights;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to any product;
• get around plan limits, for example by creating multiple accounts, or use automated means to access the products beyond normal use;
• resell or redistribute access to any product without our written permission.

7. AI limitations: review before you rely

Our products are assistive, not authoritative. AI output can be incomplete or wrong, especially with mathematics, symbols, numbers, citations and claims about the literature. Always review output before you submit, publish or act on it. You are solely responsible for your own work and for how you use the output.

8. Third-party content and services

Our products show and link to content from third parties, such as scholarly databases, publishers and preprint servers. We do not control that content, and we are not responsible for its accuracy, availability or terms of use.

9. Our intellectual property

The products, their software, design and names, including SciCoagent, Benjamin and Eratosthenes, belong to us. These Terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the products. They do not transfer any of our intellectual property to you.

10. Availability and changes

The products are provided on an "as available" basis. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features or products. We will give reasonable notice of material changes to paid plans. If we discontinue a product, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid subscription to it.

11. No warranty

The products are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes, without limitation, fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of results.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, any product or its output. For any claim relating to a product, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for that product in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Termination and changes to these Terms

• You can stop using our products and delete your account at any time (see the Privacy Policy).
• We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these Terms. Where reasonable, we will warn you first.
• We may update these Terms. The effective date at the top shows the current version. For material changes, we will notify signed-in users. Continuing to use a product after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
