The other “LaTeX-safe” tools succeed at one thing: not breaking your code. The way most of them manage it is by stepping around the math entirely. One popular guide literally tells you to replace every $...$ with a [MATH1] placeholder and drop your display equations before you proofread, then paste the originals back afterward. That keeps your .tex intact. It also means the equations were never checked at all.

Frequently asked questions

Will it break my LaTeX code?
No. Benjamin reads your .tex as LaTeX, not as flat text. Commands, environments, labels, citations and math delimiters are left intact. You get back a file that still compiles, plus a list of tracked changes you can accept or reject one at a time.
Does it actually check the equations, or just the words around them?
It checks the equations. Benjamin looks at the conceptual and formatting integrity of your math: a summation index that double counts, a stray roman d where an italic derivative belongs, a wrong exponent, an operator that is really a variable in disguise. Most tools protect your math by not touching it. Benjamin reads it.
Does it handle units and notation?
Yes. It checks units for consistency and correctness (an Angstrom that lost its ring, a CO2 that should be CO₂, a stray factor in a conversion) and flags notation that drifts partway through a paper, so the symbol you defined on page 2 still means the same thing on page 12.
Can I get tracked changes?
Yes, two ways. You can export native Word Track Changes for co-authors who live in .docx, or stay in LaTeX and review an inline diff of every edit. Nothing is rewritten silently.
Which languages does it support?
