The other “LaTeX-safe” tools succeed at one thing: not breaking your code. The way most of them manage it is by stepping around the math entirely. One popular guide literally tells you to replace every $...$ with a [MATH1] placeholder and drop your display equations before you proofread, then paste the originals back afterward. That keeps your .tex intact. It also means the equations were never checked at all.
